Privacy Policy

Last updated 13 October 2026

You can read every lesson without an account. This page explains what we store if you create one.

What we store

  • Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.
  • Learning preferences: your goal, experience, weekly study time and explanation language, so we can recommend a roadmap.
  • Progress: bookmarked and completed lessons, and your quiz scores.
  • If you continue with Google or Facebook: that account's ID, your name and email address (if it shares one). We never see your Google or Facebook password.
  • Consent: the date you accepted the Terms of Use and this policy.

What we don't store

  • Code you write in the playground. It runs in your browser and is never sent to our server.
  • Your IP address in your account. We use a one-way hash of it only to limit abuse.

Cookies and services

  • One login cookie keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • Account emails (confirming your address, resetting your password) are sent through our email provider.
  • When you ask the AI tutor a question, your question, the lesson you're on and any code you share with it are sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude) to write the answer. We don't store your conversations; we only count how many questions you ask, for the daily limit.
  • The sign-up form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person, not a bot. Cloudflare processes the data needed for that check.

Delete your data

You can delete your account and everything we store about you (profile, progress, quiz scores and any connected Google or Facebook account) at any time:

  1. Log in and open Account settings.
  2. Under “Delete account”, confirm it's you and press “Delete my account”.

To only stop CodeChallenge from using Facebook, disconnect it under “Connected accounts”, or remove the app in your Facebook settings (Settings & privacy → Apps and websites).

Your choices

You can change your name and preferences, or delete your account and all of your progress, at any time in your account settings.
